The new year has brought changes to the Red River Parish Assessor’s Office. Becky Craig, who served six terms as Assessor, retired at the end of 2020. Dovie Beard, who was elected last fall, has taken office effective January first.
In a small ceremony in the Red River Courthouse on January 4th Beard was sworn in for her term. Outgoing Assessor Becky Craig administered the oath of office while Beard’s husband Shawn held the Bible.
Beard stated, “Thank you to all the voters of Red River Parish for giving me the opportunity to serve you as your Assessor. I will do my very best to serve you to the utmost of my ability and treat each and every one fairly. My staff and I welcome you to call or come by the office should you have any questions, concerns or just to visit.”
Beard had worked in the Assessor’s Office for over 23 years. Her office staff is comprised of Deputy Assessors Daphne Bohannon, Sigrid Hayes and Mark Smith, with part-time employee Raylie Hardy.
