Fishing Team Founder Roger Longino Honored

The Fishing Team uniform of Lieutenant Roger Longino will be displayed in the Red River High trophy case in memory of the work Longino did in getting the team started this past year.  Team members gathered at the School Board meeting on Monday to present the framed uniform shirt.

Longino’s father, board member Gene Longino was taken by surprise.  It was an emotional moment that brought back many memories.  Gene Longino said, “I am surprised and I am grateful.  I appreciate it very much.  I appreciate you doing this.”

School Superintendent Alison Hughes spoke highly of Roger Longino, “He was an integral part of our system and we will continue to honor him.”

Athletic Director Norman Picou recalled, “I met Roger when he first was getting the Fishing Team started.  He will always be honored.”

High School Principal JC Dickey said, “He did so much more than fishing.  As I got to know him, he helped me get to know a part of the community.”
