The qualifying period for local offices begins today, July 22nd and runs through July 24th. Persons wishing to qualify will do so at the Red River Parish Clerk of Court’s Office.
These offices will be receiving candidates for the November ballots:
Judge – 39th JDC
District Attorney
Mayor – Town of Coushatta
Town Council – Coushatta
Justice of the Peace
Constable (J.P.Court)
Mayor – Edgefield
Aldermen – Edgefield
Chief of Police – Edgefield
Aldermen – Martin
From the Clerk of Court’s office:
YOU MUST KNOW YOUR WARD AND PRECINCT THAT YOU LIVE IN!!! IF YOU DO NOT KNOW, CONTACT THE VOTER’S OFFICE BEFORE COMING TO QUALIFY!!! There will be a form that you can get to fill out and give to the Deputy Clerk, with your payment.
Please be aware that face masks are required when entering the Courthouse and the Clerk of Court office.
Also, early voting begins on Saturday for the August 15th election. There is only one issue on that ballot, an early tax renewal for the Parishwide Fire Protection District.
Early voting is from Saturday, July 25th through Saturday, August 8th. Voting will take place at the Registrar of Voters Office in the Courthouse. Hours are 8:30 am through 6:00 pm each day. They are closed on Sunday.
