May I take a moment for a personal reflection. I served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Many in the trenches considered the radio and TV types as not having a rough assignment, of having it too easy. Not entirely the case. Fifty years ago today, April 10, 1979 nine of our brothers gave the ultimate sacrifice. A damaged fighter aircraft trying to make an emergency landing at Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base crashed. The fireball spread around the runway and destroyed the base radio and TV facility, trapping nine airmen inside. Each year the alumni of the Armed Forces Thailand Network pause to say thank you for your service and sacrifice.
