On Monday, February 10th two of Red River High School’s senior Lady Bulldogs Signed onto Bossier Parish Community College for their Basketball team in the fall of this year. The two Lady Bulldogs who signed onto the college are Ma’kaila Lewis who plays Center on the RRHS team and Danielle Burton who plays Guard on the RRHS team.
Danielle Burton said, “I believe BPCC will bring me so many opportunities through athletics and life. It’s a great organization and they care about me just as much as they care about winning ball games. I’m very excited to join the Lady Cavs in the fall. This is a great opportunity for me.”
Ma’kaila Lewis also had a few things to say about how she feels about BPCC. “I feel like God has given me a great opportunity to be able to get an offer from BPCC,” and Lewis added, “I feel like BPCC will be a great fit for me.”
The players signed their college scholarships in front of the students and staff of RRHS. Both players have recently been honored on their senior night against Winnfield.
About a week ago Morgyn Payne, the Lady Bulldog’s Point Guard signed also with BPCC. That means Red River will have three members of this year’s basketball squad on the same college team in the fall.
If you want to see these two players in action before they go onto college, their next game is on Thursday, February 13th against the Lakeview Gators.
Journal Sports will stream that game live from the Dawg Pound beginning about 5:45 Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs play at 6:00 and the Dogs play at 7:00 against rival Lakeview.
After the signing ceremonies, Red River Athletics posted, “Congratulations to Danielle Burton and Ma’kaila Lewis for signing with BPCC to continue their basketball careers.”
