Our parish has received a lot of rainfall in the past couple of days. The forecast through Wednesday predicts the rain will continue.
From the National Weather Service office in Shreveport:
Another round of severe weather is possible Wednesday as a low pressure system moves from southeast Texas across central Louisiana and the ArkLaMiss on Wednesday. Thunderstorms with this low will bring the threat of flash flooding, large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes.
A Flash Flood advisory has also been posted for our area.
A Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for our entire Four-State Region through 6 PM Wednesday. Additional rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches will be common areawide with isolated higher amounts closer to 4+ inches, mainly across parts of northeast Texas. If you encounter any flooded roadways, remember to always turn around, don’t drown!
A check late Thursday evening with Weather.com indicated that there is a 50% chance of rain or better for Red River Parish from early this morning through most of the day. After 10:00 am the precipitation chance is 90% or above.
