Town Hall Open For Business

“We were open by 10 o’clock the next morning,” said Mayor Johnny Cox. There was an electrical fire at Coushatta Town Hall on Tuesday morning. The fire damaged the phone system and coaxial cable in the building.

Power was out in portions of the town for about an hour. Cox said, “Lightning struck a power transformer nearby.” Assistant Fire Chief Mike Robinson said, “There was active fire when the fire department arrived on scene. It was quickly brought under control.”

The Mayor said there was smoke in the building and town offices had to be shut down. He said they opened the windows and doors and aired out the facility.

The Driver’s License office, which shares the building with Town Hall, was also affected and had to close for a time. There were no injuries reported
