Red River Principal JC Dickey was excited with the crowd that filled the stadium Friday night for the Red River game. And he was thrilled with the students who flocked to the new “student section” in the south end zone. But the game itself created the most excitement.
After the game, Dickey posted on social media, “Here comes the Bulldogs with a big win, 34 to 6 over Richwood, last years state runner up. Dogs are now 3 and 1 and on the move.
“Our student section grew from 17 students to 47 and then several of my students stayed and even cleaned up every piece of trash from that section.
“Kids say it’s just Red River, but I am here to tell you we are more than, it’s just Red River. We are on the way up, test scores on rise, school performance scores coming up, athletics are working hard and winning, and new facilities being built. WE ARE THE RED RIVER BULLDOGS and it will not be long before everyone knows who we are. You know how I know, because we had Riverdale and Castor students come and sit with us in the student section with Bulldog shirts on and their faces painted.”
Red River travels to Winnfield this Friday night. It is their first district game. Red River goes into the contest with three wins and one loss.
