Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic and Continuing Education will offer Pick Up Your Paint Brush classes throughout February. Thursday sessions will be on March 15 and 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Saturday session is on March 10 from 9 a.m. to noon. The class will be held on the second floor of South Hall. The fee is $45.00.

Soccer sign up is coming to a conclusion. If your child would like to get outside and kick a ball around, the deadline is soon for registration for Open Door Fellowship’s spring soccer league.

With basketball winding down, softball and baseball are already getting underway. There are teams from both Red River and Riverdale practicing and starting their early season competition. The Journal spoke with Red River Softball Coach Thrasher the other day. He is predicting the girls will have a great season this spring.

The Dragon Boat Races have been moved. Cane River is closed due to high water, so the races will be held tomorrow (Saturday) on Chaplin’s Lake at NSU.

The Riverdale Booster Club is selling butter braid bread. This is a delicious fundraiser and The Journal will probably buy a few. Contact the school at 932-5876 for information or to place an order. Delivery is expected before Easter.
