Residents of Red River Parish are invited to sign up for the 2018 Northwest Louisiana Senior Olympics. It will be held March 16th to 29th in Bossier City.
The Journal met Event Coordinators Linda and Lionel Brangham last week at the Council on Aging. They were passing out flyers and registration information. Anyone age 50 or older can enter. Competitions will be by age groups. The flyer said, “We have lots of events that you can compete in for a very low price!!!”

“It’s a special time in the Northwest District, as we mark our 25th edition, a silver edi-tion. A wonderful time to go for the gold.
“But the gold, silver and bronze medals we offer the top finishers in our competition aren’t why we exist. Our aim is to fulfill the mission of our parent organization, the LSOG: promote physical fitness and an improved quality of life for people 50 years and older through sports, games and physical activity.
“Our steering committee works year-round to provide a wide variety of events that encourage an active lifestyle and improved quality of life for seniors. Always on our mind is our invitation that was established the day these district games began: COME JOIN OUR FUN!
“We invite all our previous participants to return to our games and to encourage newcomers to get involved in the growing Senior Olympics movement.”
