High School football fans are excited. Both high schools in the parish are in the playoffs. Riverdale Academy won its first playoff game last Friday. Red River High begins playoffs this coming Friday.

Both of the high school teams have winning district records, which earned them a spot in the playoffs. Red River High School and Riverdale Academy will both be the host team and enjoy home field advantage.

Red River is beginning the playoff season. They will host North Caddo at 7:00 pm Friday night. Last week’s game was on Thursday night. There was a full moon as the Bulldogs took the field. The crowd was enthusiastic and stood for every kick-off all game long.

It was “Senior Night.” Prior to the start to the game each senior on the team was introduced accompanied by family friends and others. Red River concluded their season last Thursday night at home by trouncing Holy Savior Menard 46 to 0.

There was plenty of excitement in the air the next night at Riverdale. The stadium was full of Rebel fans anxiously awaiting the start of their first playoff game. Riverdale scored first and last in defeating North Sunflower Academy 14 to 12. For the first time in school history, Riverdale won their district 7 and 0. With one playoff victory under their belt, Riverdale will host Briarfield Academy from Lake Providence on Friday night at 7:00 pm.
