Soon there will be a new, larger welcome sign at the foot of the bridge coming into town. The Chamber of Commerce is working on a replacement for the sign that recognized sports greats from Coushatta. That sign was removed recently after being damaged.
Chamber President Karen Squires reported at this month’s meeting that three new sports figures are being added and possibly a fourth to the list of sports greats from our town.
The sign is a joint project. Squires said the town will put up the poles and mount the sign. The sign is being paid for by the chamber and its cost is approximately $1,200. After the sign is mounted the chamber will pay for landscaping the area around the sign.
The sign is being created by Century Marketing Solutions. It will be made of 5 metal panels. Squires said, “The sign can be updated and expanded easily by adding an extra panel as desired to honor more of Coushatta’s famous personalities.” The artwork for the sign will be released at a later date.
No date for completion was given. Chamber members discussed having the sign mounted in the next few months. The new sign will greet people coming into Coushatta across the US 84 bridge.
