Danny R. Von Kanel, local author, church musician, and music teacher at the L.P. Vaughn Elementary/Middle School in Natchitoches, will be leading a “Get Published” Seminar at the Red River Parish Library system on September 12th from 5:30-7:30 P.M.

Von Kanel now teaches with the Natchitoches Parish School District at the L. P. Vaughn Middle School in Natchitoches, teaching general music. He has been married to Beverly Gay Allen Von Kanel for 39 years. They have two grown sons and five grandchildren. The Von Kanel’s reside in Franklinton, Louisiana.

The seminar will cover knowing market opportunities, writing a query letter that gets you in the door, what works and what doesn’t, choosing words that sing, how to get a book published, and keys to writing a book proposal that leads to publication.

Von Kanel has hundreds of published articles in 45+ magazines including: Focus on the Family (under a pen name), Mature Living, Ministries Today, Let’s Worship, The Deacon, Parent Life, Let’s Worship, Group, Rev., Clergy Journal, Enrichment Journal, Priority, The Sunday School Leader, Creator, and The Journal for the American Society of Church Growth. In addition, he has two books published by CSS Publishing in 2003 & 2005. His third book, Building Your Life by the Owner’s Design, will find publication by 4RV Publishing in 2013, a royalty paying company. He was recently the recipient of the “Service Above Self” Award by the Natchitoches Rotary Club.

Von Kanel has led other publishing seminars at the Franklinton, Bogalusa, Natchitoches, and Ponchatoula, La libraries as well as at the Columbia and Tylertown, Mississippi libraries. He has been a breakout session leader for the Louisiana Baptist Writer’s Conference and the Berries, Bridges, and Books Writer’s Conference in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Von Kanel has also been a guest speaker for the Southern Christian Writer’s Guild of Mandeville, Louisiana.

The cost of the seminar is free. No child-care available.
