They are the “Wise Ones Working” or WOW and on Monday they began another year of service to the public schools in the parish. A group of the WOW members lead by C’Ann Norman of the Sheriff’s Department served hundreds and hundreds of hot dogs at the first ever Red River Back to School Bash.

Norman said, “We are back at it!” The group works at all of the public schools and some of their members can be seen almost any day at Red River Elementary. Their focus is to fill the gaps when extra help is needed around the schools.

In addition to their work with local schools, WOW serves residents of the nursing home where they assisted residents this summer with arts and crafts. And they are planning more “giving back” activities in the parish this year.
