Here are two road repair notices from DOTD that affect our area:
The La Department of Transportation and development reports the LA 509 Bridge over Crooked Bayou in Red River Parish has been reopened. The bridge was closed for several days to make repairs. That bridge is just east of the IP Plant.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that LA 783 in Red River Parish will be closed beginning at 8:00 am on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 and lasting until approximately 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. The location of the closure is 8.1 miles north of US 71 and 1.1 miles south of LA 514. The purpose of the closure is to allow for pipe replacement.
Coach Ginger Craig informs the Journal, “I will be teaching an Adult Driver Education Class August 29th and 30th at the Adult Education Center (across the street from Bailey’s) for any adult seeking a drivers license.” The class is from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P. M. Must be 18 years or older. Cost is $275.00. Deadline to register is August 25th.”

It’s August and here are your public meeting dates for the month:
Monday August 7th is the Police Jury meeting. Committee meetings begin at 6:00 pm and the full Jury meets at 7:00 pm. The police jury meets on the third floor of the Red River Courthouse.
Monday August 14th is meeting date for the Red River Parish School Board. They meet at 6:30 pm at the school administration building on Alonzo Street.
Tuesday August 15th is the monthly meeting of the Town Council. They meet at 5:30 at City Hall. This month the council will officially approve calling a tax election for the fall ballot.
