Some advice from the Red River Parish Health Unit. Don’t wait for the August rush. Have your children immunized for back to school.

Nursing Supervisor Yashica Turner said, “Don’t wait until it’s too late. Call for your appointment today. If you delay until a Friday afternoon you could see a long wait.” Everyone is thinking about kids going back to school. Turner said, “College students need immunizations also. The health unit serves children from kindergarten through college age.”

Immunizations are covered by Medicaid’s vaccination program. People with private insurance and those who have no insurance pay only $10 per visit regardless of the number of vaccinations received.

The Red River Parish Health Unit is located in the Annex building on Red Oak Road beside the courthouse. Hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Call 318-932-4087 for your appointment. Get back to school immunizations now, and avoid the last minute rush.
