The Journal ran into an excited group of youth in a couple of cars at the convenience store a few days ago. They were headed to a summer church adventure. They were youth from Abundant Life Worship Center on the way to Collide Youth Camp. They have been raising funds for months to pay for the trip. Hanna and Marcus Long are coordinators for the trip.

Over 25 children were entertained with games, projects and magic at the Red River Parish Library Thursday afternoon. Be sure to bring the kids next Monday when the guest speaker will be author Jasper Price. His latest children’s book is Zombie Asockalypse. On Monday, children will be invited to make their own zombie sock and read stories from his book. Autographed copies of Price’s book will be available to purchase for $8.00.
Summer school is underway. Karen Squires reported to the school board Monday night that “lots of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are on track to pass their grades and get promoted to the next grade in the fall.” She added “100 elementary and over 70 junior high students have already completed their recovery credits.”
Summer Children’s Programs at Victorious Life Ministries, posted by the church. The Life Church would like to extend an invitation to our Summer Institute Bible Program for ages 5-18. Each Wednesday at 5:00 pm we take a closer look into the Word of God and what it means to let our lights shine! It’s free, it’s fun and yes there’s food!!! See you there!!
Vacation Bible School continues in the parish. Martin Baptist Church will have their VBS next week. Dates are June 19th through 23rd. The program will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 each evening.
