November Activities Coming Up Soon

November has gotten off to a busy start, and we hope it continues this way.  The craft days that we had on Monday, November 2nd and November 4th were lots of fun!  On Monday, we had twelve participants who made some of the softest, cutest blankets, and we did not even have to sew a stitch.  One of our newest staff members, Ms. Regina Lawson, showed us how to do each step, and everyone left with at least one blanket to use as a Christmas gift or a baby gift or as a blanket for himself or herself.  On Wednesday, November 4th, Ms. Lawson showed us all how to make coasters, and provided each of us with all of the materials we needed to make them.  We put the coasters together using a variety of colors, sewed around the edges to make squares, and ironed them flat.  Everyone left with at least two coasters and some left with even more that that.  A good time was had by all.

Saturday, November 7th will be the Genealogy Workshop led by Dr. Virginia Webb.  All of the materials needed will be provided as we begin to learn how to build our family trees.  Dr. Webb will begin with the very basic things that we all need to know and will help us learn how to get started.  The workshop will begin at 9:00 and will end at 12:00.  There is no charge for this activity and light refreshments will be served.

Our November Bingo will be on Tuesday, November 10th, this month, as our regular Wednesday is Veteran’s Day, and the library will be closed that day. Also, November 10th is the last day for our teens to register for the Game Truck Activity to be held on November 20th.  However, if we do not have enough teens to sign up, we will not be able to have the Game Truck Activity.   Another change is the date of our monthly genealogy meeting; it will be held on Monday, November 16th, because we will be closed on Wednesday, November 18th for library staff training on the VEGA program.

Finally, On Thursday, November 19th, Ms. Elizabeth Martin, will be here to show us how to create a soup mix in a jar.  Each person will leave with his or her on soup mix to enjoy on one of cool days coming up soon.  All are invited.
