RRHS Class of 2027 explores college opportunities during campus visits

Members of the Red River High School Class of 2027 took an important step toward planning their futures on Thursday, September 24, 2026, as they visited two Louisiana universities to explore educational opportunities beyond high school.

The students began their day with a morning tour of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston before traveling to the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) for an afternoon campus visit.

During both tours, students had the opportunity to walk through the campuses, explore the university environments, and visit with currently enrolled college students. These interactions provided valuable firsthand insight into college life and what students can expect as they prepare for the transition from high school to higher education.

In addition to experiencing the campuses, the RRHS students learned about academic programs, scholarship opportunities, and the resources available to help them succeed. The visits allowed students to explore potential career pathways while gaining a better understanding of the academic and financial considerations involved in attending college.

Campus visits are an important part of the college planning process, giving high school students an opportunity to experience university life beyond brochures and websites. Seeing the campuses in person and speaking directly with college students can help them identify their interests, ask questions, and begin making informed decisions about their futures.

The Class of 2027 thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and the visits generated excitement about the possibilities awaiting them after graduation.

Their college exploration will continue on November 12, when students are scheduled to visit McNeese State University in Lake Charles.

Through these experiences, Red River High School students are gaining valuable exposure to higher education and taking meaningful steps toward preparing for the next chapter of their lives.
