
Red River High School invites parents and families to a school-wide planning meeting today, October 2, from 11 a.m. to noon in the RRHS Banquet Hall. The meeting will focus on reviewing the school-wide plan, discussing implementation steps, identifying evidence of progress and completing the plan approval process. Parents and families are encouraged to attend and share their input as the school works to support student achievement and continued improvement.
Louisiana State Representative Dennis Bamburg will treat Riverdale Academy’s varsity and junior varsity football teams, water boys, cheerleaders, dance line, coaches and administration to a special pregame meal in celebration of Homecoming. The meal will be held Friday, October 9, at 2:45 p.m. in the school lunchroom as the Rebels prepare for their Homecoming festivities.
The Red River Bulldogs will travel to Logansport to face the Tigers tonight at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are available through GoFan for $10. Fans will use their phones as their tickets.
Saturday morning at 11am at the Red River Parish Library, Erin Staub from the Louisiana Wild Society will speak about ticking in our gardens for the winter. This is a follow-up to Erin’s last visit about native plants and their benefits.
Join the Robeline Heritage Society this Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3 as they host the 35th annual Robeline Heritage Festival. Friday starting at 5:30 brings kid’s activities, free food, cake walk, introduction of 2026 Robeline Heritage Festival Queens, politicians speaking, and Christian music to end the night at 9 pm. Saturday continues with the festivities including breakfast, children’s parade, scavenger hunt, main parade, cake auction, and live music throughout the day. Northwestern State University has announced a location change for check-in at Saturday’s N-Side View Day due to the possibility of rain. Check-in will now take place indoors at Alost Hall from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., allowing the academic and student organization browse to be held comfortably. All other scheduled activities and locations will remain unchanged, and the event will take place rain or shine.
This weekend, Fort Jesup State Historic Site will host Halloween at the Fort on Saturday, Oct. 3, adding a Halloween theme to history. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. and will offer visitors an evening hayride through historic military scenes at the site. Following the hayride, activities will continue at the fort’s original kitchen building, where visitors can participate in historic games and enjoy popcorn and apple cider.
Monday, Oct. 5, is the last day to register in person or by mail to vote in the Nov. 3 election. Voters who register online have until Oct. 13. Online registration is available through the Secretary of State at geauxvote.com. To register, a person must be 18 by Election Day, a U.S. citizen, a resident of the parish and not currently incarcerated for a felony conviction.
