The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the next milestone for the new $361 million LA 511 (Jimmie Davis Bridge) project over the Red River. Deck pouring operations are set to begin, signaling another exciting construction activity for the new structure.

As the project continues to make significant progress, Clyde Fant Parkway southbound will be closed on the night of Thursday, October 1, 2026 from approximately 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Clyde Fant Parkway northbound will be closed for only a 3 hour time frame, from 4:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., on the morning of Friday, October 2nd.

These road closures are necessary to allow concrete deck pouring operations to take place safely and efficiently for both work crews and the traveling public. The deck is the driving surface of the bridge.

Advance warning signage is in place alerting motorists of the planned road closure. Traffic wishing to travel on Clyde Fant will be detoured over the existing bridge and onto Arthur Ray Teague Parkway to the Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge. (see included detour map)

Motorists are also reminded that other construction activities continue to take place throughout the project, and are urged to use extreme caution while traveling within the work zone. Ongoing intermittent lane closures remain in place as widening and reconstruction continues on the LA 511 approaches to the bridge.

The project recently hit another milestone with the completion of the girder installation, officially creating a fully connected structure across the Red River for the first time in nearly 60 years. Be sure to click here to read much more about the project.
