Traffic on Hwy 84 between Hwy 1 and the Red River Parish bridge was backed up for an extended period Sunday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash.

The accident involved a white SUV and a black vehicle. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with the black vehicle coming to rest off the roadway.

Courtney Ivey, who was traveling in the white SUV with her husband and son, said in a social media post that all three survived the crash. She expressed gratitude that her family was safe following the collision.

The driver of the black vehicle, identified by family and friends as Erica Hogan Guidroz, also survived. According to a social media post, Guidroz suffered cuts and bruises and was expected to be sore following the accident.

Red River Parish deputies, Louisiana State Police, Red River Parish EMTs and fire personnel responded to the scene.

No major injuries were reported.

The crash created a lengthy traffic backup along Hwy 84. Some motorists were rerouted onto River Road, while others remained stopped on the highway for approximately 25 minutes before traffic began moving again.

Debris from the collision could be seen scattered across the roadway and shoulder as emergency crews worked the scene.

The cause of the crash was not available Sunday evening.
