The 2026 Red River Parish Rodeo will be dedicated to Sheriff Glen Edwards, recognizing his decades of service, leadership and commitment to Red River Parish.

A lifelong Coushatta resident, Edwards has devoted nearly 40 years to law enforcement. He began his career with the Coushatta Police Department before joining the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office in 1989. He later spent 21 years with the Louisiana State Police, attaining the rank of lieutenant and serving as executive officer of Troop G.

Edwards was elected Sheriff of Red River Parish in 2012. Since taking office, he has continued to focus on public safety, supporting his deputies and serving the parish he has called home throughout his life. Upon completion of his current term, Edwards will have served 16 years as sheriff.

Throughout his career, Edwards has also served on numerous boards and organizations and has remained involved in efforts supporting law enforcement and the Red River Parish community.

This year’s rodeo dedication recognizes that long record of service and gives the community an opportunity to honor Edwards during one of the parish’s longstanding traditions.

The Red River Parish Rodeo is scheduled for Sept. 18 and 19 at the Red River Parish Fairgrounds in Coushatta, with performances beginning at 7 p.m. each night.
