
The Budweiser Clydesdales will join Lane Kiffin for the Victory Hill walk tomorrow to support Folds of Honor charity. And Louisiana native, country music sensation Lainey Wilson will be the guest picker for College Gameday. She’ll also perform live Saturday morning in Baton Rouge–it will also be the 500th show on the road for College Gameday.
Looking for something to do this weekend there’s three different events happening in Natchitoches. Natchitoches Bigfoot Festival, Cane River Zydeco Festival and the 3rd Annual Renaissance Comes to the Cane at Fort St. Jean Baptiste.
Red River Junior High School will host Grits with Grands on Wed Sept 9 at 7:30am in the school gym. Grandparents are invited to enjoy a special morning and breakfast with their grandchildren at the school. The event offers students and their grandparents an opportunity to spend time together while celebrating the important role grandparents play in their lives.
The Shreveport Observatory will host its first Fall Star Party on Sat Sept 19. The free event is open to all ages and offers visitors a chance to spend an evening learning about and observing the night sky. The observatory is located about eight miles south of Shreveport on Highway 175 along Astronomical Road.
Sci-Port Discovery Center will be temporarily closed Sept 28–Oct 2 for deep cleaning, reorganizing, making improvements, and preparing some exciting new additions around the center.

The SCAC Sports (Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) will bring its men’s and women’s basketball championships to Brookshire Grocery Arena from 2027 through 2029, giving Shreveport-Bossier a recurring event that brings teams, families and fans into the area. The 2027 tournament is scheduled for Feb. 26–28, with the conference’s top six men’s and women’s teams competing for automatic NCAA Division III tournament bids.
