SWEPCO is offering temporary assistance to residential customers facing higher electric bills following the summer heat, with several measures available through the end of October.
Effective immediately, residential customers who have a required deposit on file with SWEPCO may ask to have that deposit applied toward an outstanding account balance, reducing the amount currently owed.
SWEPCO is also temporarily pausing required deposits that result from late payments for existing residential customers. In addition, late payment fees will be waived for residential customers who contact the company about concerns paying their bill.
The company is also expanding eligibility for its Average Monthly Payment (AMP) program. The program spreads electricity costs over time to provide customers with a more predictable monthly bill and will temporarily be available to more customers.
Other assistance remains available, including payment arrangements, bill assistance resources, weatherization programs, rebates and energy-saving tools for eligible customers.
Customers who are having difficulty paying their electric bill are encouraged to contact SWEPCO as soon as possible to discuss which options may be available for their account. Customers can call 888-216-3523 for assistance.
The temporary measures are scheduled to remain available through the end of October.
