Red River Parish 4-H member Katelynn Albright spent her summer traveling, competing and developing her leadership skills while representing Red River Parish and the 4-H program.

Albright competed in several jackpot livestock shows throughout the summer, exhibiting market sheep, swine and goats. At the Claiborne Classic, she was named Reserve Champion Sheep Showman and exhibited the Third Overall Market Lamb. She also earned Reserve Champion Sheep Showman honors at the Black and Gold Showdown.

Another milestone came when Albright earned her first American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA) Rosette after being named Reserve Champion Nigerian Dwarf Buck. The moment was even more memorable as her mentor earned Grand Champion Nigerian Dwarf Buck at the same event.

Albright also spent part of her summer helping other young 4-H members. She shared her knowledge by teaching skills that included goat soap making and swine showmanship, giving her an opportunity to serve as both a competitor and a young leader.

Her livestock experiences took her well beyond Louisiana this summer. Albright traveled with Dunbroke Farms to Springfield, Massachusetts, for the 2026 ADGA National Dairy Goat Show. The three-day journey took the group through 10 states before arriving at the historic Big E fairgrounds.

At the national show, Albright gained experience competing at a higher level and met fellow exhibitors from across the country. She also had the opportunity to exhibit one of the does included in a Top 10 Best Three Junior Does entry.

Albright’s summer accomplishments extended beyond the show ring when she was selected as a Northwest Region Ag Ambassador. In the role, she will help promote agriculture, educate others about its importance and represent young people involved in Louisiana agriculture.

From success in the show ring to helping other 4-H members and representing agriculture on a larger stage, Albright’s summer reflected the livestock skills, leadership and service that are central to the 4-H program.
