Just a Reminder!

This is just a reminder that on Tuesday, August 25, we will have two workshops on Computer Security and Internet Security.  Both of the workshops will be presented by Mr. Tobin DeVille of Deville Training Connection.  Tobin is an experienced instructor and the founder of DeVille Training Connection, where he provides practical training in Microsoft Office and professional development skills such as leadership and emotional intelligence. He specializes in helping adults build confidence and efficiency with everyday applications for their computers and smartphones as well as build interpersonal relationships with others. Tobin’s classes are known for being engaging, approachable, and hands‑on, making technology more accessible for learners of all experience levels.

Tobin has a long history of presentation.  He began his 40-year radio career in high school and spent countless hours as both on-air talent and host at public events informing, entertaining and engaging audiences.  In 2010 he transitioned from radio programmer to instructor, drawing from his decades as a public figure.  Tobin has trained Microsoft Office Applications and Windows as well as a variety of Business/Soft Skills topics.  He attributes both his graduate degree in Educational Technology and his decades of broadcasting experience to the passion he has developed to facilitate learning.  He constantly strives to present information in multiple methods to reach the various learning styles of participants.

The workshop on Computer Security will begin at 10:00 Tuesday morning.  You do not have to register early, and you do not have to bring a computer with you unless you just want to do so.  Tobin will provide laptops.  The topics to be covered in this session will include what should be secured, Windows updates, good computer practices, and building passwords.

The workshop on Internet Security will begin at 2:00 on Tuesday afternoon.  Again, you do not have register early, and you do not have to bring a computer unless you just want to do so.  The topics to be covered in this session will include Wifi security, computer lock scam and how to stop it, website security, and email security and Phishing threats and how to identify them so you don’t give up private information.

Having taken both of these workshops, I can assure you that Tobin will provide valuable tips on keeping your computers or cell phones safe, as well as making your use of the internet safer and help to keep your identity and information secure.  We hope that as many of you as possible will attend one or both of these workshops.  If you have any questions about these workshops, please call the library at 318-932-5614.
