Northwestern State University’s School of Kinesiology, formerly the Department of Health and Human Performance, will celebrate its new name with a ribbon-cutting Thursday, Aug. 27, at its building at 170 Tarleton Drive. A Q&A with the School of Kinesiology Advisory Panel will follow at 1 p.m., focusing on industry trends, career opportunities and growing demand in physical therapy, sports performance and wellness. The new name reflects the school’s growth and professional focus; degree requirements, faculty, courses and student pathways remain unchanged.

The Louisiana Art & Science Museum invites children ages 3–8 and their accompanying adults to a special Read & Create program on Saturday, September 5, at 11:00 AM, featuring local author Julie Becnel and her new book, Roux’s First Day. The event will serve as the next stop on Becnel’s book tour and will include a reading of the book, followed by a hands-on craft inspired by the story and a book signing with the author in the Museum Store.
