Red River basketball to host ‘Never Forget’ 5K honoring 9/11

Red River Boys and Girls Basketball will bring the community together in remembrance of Sept. 11 with the Never Forget 5K Run/Walk and Kids 1-Mile Run on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The event will honor the lives lost, the heroes who responded and the sacrifices made on Sept. 11, 2001. With the message “We Run to Remember — Never Forget,” organizers are inviting runners and walkers of all ages to participate.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. in the Red River Gym lobby, 915 E. Carroll St. in Coushatta, with the races beginning at 8 a.m. Both races will start at the same time.

Children ages 5-12 can participate in the Kids 1-Mile Run for $20. Registration for the Never Forget 5K Run/Walk is $30.

Those who register by Aug. 25 will receive a free event T-shirt. Online registration will remain open through Sept. 10 at bulldogs.schoolcashonline.com.

Participants will receive wristbands, and water and refreshments will be provided during and after the event.

The Never Forget 5K offers the community an opportunity to come together through fitness while remembering a day that forever changed the nation and honoring those whose lives were lost or forever affected.
