The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum will host the NSU Athletics Fall Kickoff from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at 800 Front St. Student-athletes will sign autographs and pose for photos from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer panel with all nine Northwestern State head coaches from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event includes preseason and recruiting updates and information on season tickets and Vic’s Kids Club passes. Free and open to the public.

The Red River Parish Library is exploring the possibility of starting an Adult Book Club that would meetonce a month to enjoy great books, engaging discussions, and fellowship with fellow readers. If you’re interested in becoming a member—or would like to volunteer as the group’s leader—the library would love to hear from you. Clara Springs Fourth Friday Fish Fry Fri Aug 28 from 5-7pm. Dinner includes all you can eat fried fish, coleslaw, french fries, hushpuppies, pinto beans, lemon bread pudding, homemade ice cream and a drink. $15 for adults, $10 kids 10-15, kids 9 & under eat free. First Baptist Mansfield will host.

The Riverdale Cheerleaders are inviting the community to support their program at a Bingo Fundraiser on Sat Aug 29, beginning at 5pm in the school gym. Admission is $25 at the door for one book of 10 bingo cards, or attendees can purchase a presale special of three books for $60. Kids’ bingo, concessions, and additional bingo cards will also be available. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Riverdale cheer program.

Louisiana Tech and ULM reignite a longstanding North Louisiana rivalry with the launch of the Radiance Technologies I-20 Showdown Rivalry Series. The Rivalry Series will unite competition across 12 varsity sports into a single season-long championship, with the Bulldogs, Lady Techsters and Warhawks competing throughout the academic year for annual bragging rights and the inaugural Radiance Technologies I-20 Showdown Rivalry Series title.
