Red River Elementary announced that parents of PK3 & PK4 students will be allowed to walk their child(ren) to classrooms this week only–Mon – Thur. After the initial week, students must be dropped off either by car or by school bus. Afternoon car pick-up for PK3 is 2:25pm while PK4 is 2:30pm.

The Red River Street Rod Association and Logansport Chamber of Commerce will host a Classic Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9am to 3pm at Mansfield State Historic Site. The show is open to cars, trucks and bikes and will feature a large vehicle display, cannon-firing demonstrations, food trucks, plaques and a 50/50 drawing, with awards presented at 2 p.m. Pre-registration is $25 per show vehicle, while day-of registration is $30. Admission for the public is $6. Top 25 awards and a Best of Show honor will also be presented.

Northwestern State’s pipe organ is singing once again after reinstalation last week. The organ was disassembled this past May, carefully packed and transported to the place it was built, Reuter’s headquarters in Lawrence, Kansas, where the console was cleaned, pipes repaired and digital capabilities expanded. A concert to showcase the organ will take place in January.

A Century on Display exhibit, celebrating 100 years of the Natchitoches Christmas Festival, is on display at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum. The exhibit tells the story of how one small community celebration grew into one of Louisiana’s most beloved traditions. It is free and open to the public.
