The National Football League continues to set the financial standard among North America’s major professional sports leagues.

According to published sports business reports, the NFL generated approximately $14.5 billion in national revenue during the 2025 season. That total exceeded the combined centrally shared revenue distributed to teams in the NBA, Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League.

The league’s 32 franchises reportedly each received more than $450 million from shared revenue sources, including national television contracts, sponsorships, licensing agreements and other league-wide business ventures. Because those revenues are shared equally among all teams, every franchise benefits regardless of market size.

The NFL’s continued financial growth has been driven largely by lucrative media rights agreements, strong corporate partnerships and the league’s enduring popularity with fans. Those revenue streams provide teams with a significant financial foundation before accounting for income from ticket sales, concessions, parking and other local revenue sources.

As the NFL prepares for the 2026 season, the league remains the most financially successful professional sports organization in North America, with its business model continuing to outpace other major leagues.
