Wreaths Across America celebrated

December 14 at First Methodist Church Coushatta, the Coushatta Chute Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and the Springville Cemetery Association held the second Wreaths Across America remembrance program.

This year, DAR members, Red River High Honor Guard, and community members placed more than 275 wreaths at the graves of veterans in the Springville Cemetery. Each of these veterans had their name spoken and their lives remembered.

At the program on Saturday, Major General (ret) James Jones USAF spoke to the crowd about why teaching the youth of America about veterans and the honor of their sacrifice is the most important lesson we can leave for the future.

Organizing the event was Cindy Coffey, who has been the committee chairman for more than two years. Virginia Webb, Springville Cemetery Association, directed all of the cemetery activities.
