Louisiana Farm Bureau to cut auto insurance rates by 11.8%

Good news is on the way for Louisiana drivers. Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple has announced that Louisiana Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company will implement an 11.8% reduction in auto insurance rates, impacting more than 80,000 policyholders statewide beginning January 1, 2026.

The rate reduction was reviewed and approved by the Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) and is expected to save drivers millions of dollars collectively in the coming year.

“This rate decrease is a positive step for Louisiana consumers,” Commissioner Temple said in a statement. “It reflects a competitive market and responsible management from insurers who are responding to improved conditions in our state’s auto insurance environment.”

Louisiana Farm Bureau, one of the state’s largest auto insurers, serves customers in both rural and urban areas. The upcoming rate adjustment follows broader efforts by state officials to stabilize insurance costs and improve affordability for residents.

Policyholders will see the change reflected in their renewal notices after the first of the year. Drivers are encouraged to review their policies and contact their local Farm Bureau agent with any questions about how the new rates may affect them.

The announcement marks one of the largest statewide auto insurance rate decreases approved in recent years, signaling optimism for Louisiana’s insurance market heading into 2026.
