Junior golfer Philip Guidry keeps his cool on hot start this Fall

As the Fall Front 9 Tour heats up, so does Coushatta Country’s Club’s own Philip Guidry, who has been one of the tour’s standout performers through the opening stretch.

Guidry has caught fire in his two events, posting back-to-back low golfer medalist rounds. He first captured the title at Huntington Park Golf Club, carding an impressive (39) +3 performance to take home the win. Just days later, on October 4th at Olde Oaks, Guidry surpassed that effort with an even round of 36 to edge out a stacked field of top local junior golfers for the tournament championship.

When asked about his recent success, the young golfer kept things simple. “I just enjoy playing golf with my friends,” Guidry said. “I chip and hit balls at my house any chance I get with my older brother. My grandmother lives right by Coushatta National, so anytime I can talk my dad into going there, I’m out there practicing.” His pre tournament preparation from a health standpoint is something else the young golfer mentioned. “I make sure I drink plenty of water and don’t eat just “junk” food before I have to play. Bananas and turkey wraps during the round are light on my stomach and keep my energy up. It seems to be working.”

Guidry’s consistency, work ethic, and love for the game are quickly making him one of the brightest young names on the junior golf circuit.
