Red River Journal visited the new Registrar of Voters office for our parish, which is on the corner of Alonzo and Front Street. In the bright and inviting office space, parish residents may now register to vote, change their voting information, and inquire about election procedures.
Early voting will be available during elections in this space. Debra Jones reported that voters will no longer be required to pass through the metal detectors or climb the courthouse steps to vote.
The new Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit share the building with the Voters Office. Karen Freeman, administrative assistant, receives the public in this space. Shane Hubbard’s office and Harold Woodard’s office can be accessed through the Front Street/Hessmer Ave. entrance.
