Coushatta Chute Chapter DAR reminds everyone about Flag Day

Friday, June 14, will mark Flag Day to celebrate the adoption of the Flag of the United States. The flag’s history goes back to 1777, but not until 1885 did the day begin to get recognition. Finally, on August 3, 1949, National Flag Day was made official by an Act of Congress.

If you fly a flag at home or elsewhere, now is the time to check it for tears, dirt, fading, and general disrepair. If you see a need to replace worn-out flags, there are special ways to dispose of them in a dignified manner.

Join the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Coushatta Chute Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution this Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the big flag on 71/84 for a celebration of Flag Day.
