Norma Lester

On December 6, twenty-two Northwest Louisiana DAR members and one SAR member joined to serve cookies, punch and coffee to veterans waiting for their appointments at Overton Brooks VA Hospital. Regents and members from Shreveport, Pelican, Bon Chasse, Cane River, Frances Rebecca Harrison, and Coushatta Chute Chapters visited with veterans and shared stories of service. Many of these veterans served in Vietnam.

One of the DAR members joined 54 years ago. Another of the ladies had been a member for one day. DAR is for any woman 18 years of age or older, regardless of ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution. For more information contact nslester@cp-tel.net.
