Riverdale Baseball Takes a Win, Loses Two

The week of March 27-31, the Riverdale Rebels split two games with CCHS and took a tough district loss to Tensas. On March 28, the Rebels defeated CCHS 13-3 in six innings. Aston Hester, Colton Massey, and Kaidyn Williams split time on the mound, with Williams taking the win for this game. Williams also had a hot bat for the Rebels, going 3 for 4 at the plate with a double, an RBI, 3 stolen bases, and 3 runs scored. Landen Barrett was also 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs, a stolen base, and 2 runs scored. Mason Murray was 1 for 2 with an RBI, 2 stolen bases, and 2 runs scored. Jaxon Gates was also 1 for 2. Ryder Huddleston tripled and had an RBI and scored a run. Zane Givens was 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs, a stolen base, and a run scored. Hester had an RBI and a stolen base, and Massey had a stolen base and scored 3 runs.

The Rebels then traveled to Magnolia on March 30 for a rematch with CCHS and fell by a close score of 10-9. Barrett got the start on the mound and went 3 innings, with Hester, Williams, and Massey pitching an inning each. Barrett was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs, a stolen base, and a run scored. Williams doubled, and Huddleston also doubled with an RBI and a stolen base. Colton Caskey went 1 for 4 with a stolen base and 2 runs scored, and Hester had an RBI and 2 stolen bases. Murray scored 2 runs and had a stolen base, and Givens scored a run and had a stolen base.

On Friday, March 31, the Rebels traveled to take on Tensas Academy. It was a low scoring game with Tensas taking a 3-0 victory in 7 innings. Hester went the distance for the Rebels, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out seven batters. Barrett and Caskey both went 2 for 4 for the Rebels. Colton Massey was 1 for 2, while Givens and Hester were each 1 for 3 with Hester having a stolen base. Matthew Smith went 1 for 1 for the Rebels.

This week the Rebels will take on Briarfield Academy at home on Tuesday and will travel to UCA in Farmerville on Thursday.
