The new Kiwanis Club of Red River Parish officially received the charter from Kiwanis International during a celebration in Coushatta Monday night. There are about 50 charter members of the new civic organization.
Kiwanis District Trustee Greg Beard of Alexandria served as Master of Ceremonies and made the presentations. Beard said although this club is new, it joins 20,901 other Kiwanis clubs worldwide. Beard said,” Kiwanis members work to make their communities and the world a better place. Kiwanians give over 6,000,000 hours of community service each year.”
Beard gave the oath of installation to the charter board members and officers (see below). And all of the charter members at the celebration were presented with their membership pins.
Club President Kristy Hoeflinger responded, “It’s really been fun and exciting to get the club up and going. We’ve done a couple of local service projects so far and more are to come.” She described a socks and underwear collection they made for elementary schools, club members serving refreshments at the school board open house for their new facilities and serving cookies during Santa’s visit to Quality Ford in December. Hoeflinger concluded, “I am honored to be your charter President. I would like for everyone to keep the same passion for serving kids as when we were first organized.”
