The 2022-23 school year is in full swing at Riverdale, and we have many new faces on campus. We have a great group from grades pre-k 3 through 12th grade, so making decisions for students of the month is proving to be a very difficult thing because we have so many worthy students.
For our elementary student of the month for August, his teachers have chosen pre-k 3 student Tripp Lefler. Tripp is the son of Drew and Stephanie Lefler and has had a great start to his first year of school. His teacher, Mrs. Jaylee Wyatt, said that he is friendly, plays well with others, and has not had to move his behavior clip down at all so far this year. Tripp said his favorite food is Ring Pops, his favorite color is red, and his favorite thing about school is nap time. He loves watching his big sister Harleigh cheer on the Rebels and loves playing outside, especially when mud and dirt is involved.
Our middle school student of the month is new to Riverdale this year. Her teachers, Mrs. Brandy Merry and Mrs. Bethany Seales have chosen 7th grader Bailey Borders as August student of the month. Bailey is the daughter of Hannah Bufkin and Clint Borders and is adjusting well to her new school. Her teachers said she is kind, respectful, gets along with others, and is a very hard worker in the classroom. Bailey’s favorite food is spaghetti and meatballs, and her favorite subject at school is math. In her free time, she enjoys art, games, softball, soccer, horse riding, and animals.
Our high school student of the month is 11th grader Maddie Whittington. Maddie is the daughter of Kristel Campbell and Cody Whittington. She came to Riverdale last year and quickly found her place in the hearts of the students and teachers. Her teachers all agreed that she is very respectful, kind, and is a hard worker in all of her classes. Maddie’s favorite color is blue, and her favorite subject is math. Maddie was recently chosen as junior mad for homecoming, and she is a Riverdale Rebel cheerleader. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and making memories.
Congratulations to Tripp, Bailey, and Maddie! The students were recognized by Coushatta’s VFW Post and Auxiliary 7287. Post representative Lee Rodgers presented each student with a certificate and gift card to Dairy Queen. Note Maddie Whittington was not present the day the certificates were presented at school.
