Have you had your COVID-19 vaccination? The vaccine is available at four locations in Red River Parish, according to information published on the state health department’s website. Those locations are Christus Coushatta Health Care, Mabile’s Pharmacy, Red River Parish EMS, and the Red River Health Unit.
Louisiana Department of Health said, “Everyone in Louisiana ages 12 and older is eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Having a large portion of the population vaccinated is our best shot at a return to some form of normalcy. Based on conversations with our federal partners, we are encouraged that Louisiana will receive enough doses to vaccinate everyone who wants a shot.”
The Louisiana Department of Health warns that COVID-19 cases among people who are not yet fully vaccinated are surging, and all people in Louisiana, especially those who are not yet vaccinated, are at an elevated risk of exposure to COVID-19 as the more contagious Delta variant continues to spread.
You encouraged to have an appointment. Call a location in the parish that administers the vaccine for scheduling vaccination appointments.
Vaccines currently being administered are from Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. Pfizer and Moderna are two-dose vaccines while Johnson & Johnson is one dose. All three vaccines have been authorized for emergency use by the FDA and are safe and effective.
Individuals receiving the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will schedule their second dose during their first dose vaccination appointment. Second doses are given at the same location where a person receives their first dose. Johnson & Johnson vaccine recipients do not require a second appointment.
