Riverdale Academy senior Matthew Seales was honored at ULM’s Scholar’s Celebration on Thursday evening, April 15.  The event was held at the 601 Spring Event Center in Shreveport, LA. The celebration honored ULM incoming freshmen who have excelled academically.

Dinner was catered by Silver Star Smokehouse, and the students had a chance to meet and visit with university president, Dr. Ron Berry.  Students were given medals of achievement and were presented with ULM sweatshirts.

Matthew was allowed to bring 2 guests to the celebration-a parent and a teacher or person who has been a positive influence in his education.  Matthew’s mom, Bethany Seales, and his high school science teacher, Dr. Hunter Brown, were his guests.

Matthew has maintained a 4.0 GPA in high school, has 21 dual enrollment college hours, with A’s in each class, and scored a 31 on his ACT. ULM has awarded him with the President’s Distinguished Scholarship and a new laptop computer.  His scholarship total is $58,352 over 4 years.  He plans to major in nursing and later become a nurse practitioner. Matthew’s parents are James and Bethany Cowser Seales of Sibley, LA, and his grandmother is Mary Tom Cowser of Coushatta.
