Large Warehouse Collapses at Almond Brothers

A very large warehouse building at the Almond Brothers operation north of Coushatta collapsed under the weight of ice and snow.  Vince Almond captured the damaged structure.

The Journal asked Ardis Almond about the warehouse.  He said, “It was almost one acre of free span roof that collapsed.  The warehouse was built in the early 90s by a contractor that was certified to handle snow loads for this part of the country.”

Almond said he had not surveyed the scene yet.  He added, “I haven’t received an estimate but probably a million dollars damage.”

Many light-duty structures collapsed under the weight of ice and snow over the past few days.  The weather service and law enforcement agencies cautioned people to move vehicles and other valuable items from under this type of structure.
