The Riverdale Rebels and Lady Rebels all came away with wins Wednesday night vs. Tensas Academy.  Here are the scores.

JV Girls: 38-32

All 4 teams will be back in action this Friday as the Rebels travel to Tallulah Academy.

Journal Sports will broadcast the varsity games Friday evening beginning about 5:50 pm.  And reporter Molly Seales will wrap up all of the week’s basketball games next Wednesday in The Journal.

Ranch Rodeo is scheduled Saturday in the Arena at Red River Cowboy Church.  They’re looking for 15 4-Man teams to enter.

Gov. John Bel Edwards signed proclamations setting the dates for three special elections in Louisiana.  For the Congressional elections, the primary will be on March 20 and the runoff, if necessary, will be April 24.

Three special elections were called. There will be an election in Louisiana’s Fifth Congressional District following the tragic death of Luke Letlow following a battle with COVID-19. In Louisiana’s Second Congressional District, Congressman Cedric Richmond will resign to work at the White House. The qualifying period for these elections will be from January 20 to January 22, 2021.

Baton Rouge Judge Chris Hester was elected to the appeals court, leaving a vacancy in Baton Rouge City Court. That election will be October 9.

Due to the potential of high impact snowfall late Sunday, Jan. 10 and early Monday, Jan. 11, classes on all Northwestern State University campuses are cancelled for Monday, Jan. 11.  Residence halls, which will reopen to students this weekend, will remain open. Iberville Dining Hall will be open from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm for brunch and 4:30 to 7:00 pm for dinner through Monday.
