Dawgs Fight Hard But Come Up Short

When the Bulldogs traveled to West Monroe on Tuesday night, they found themselves in a battle with a taller and faster squad.  The West Monroe Rebels prevailed in the JV game 40-32.  The varsity game was not as close with West Monroe running to a 55-30 win.

D’Evan McDonald lead the charge with 13 points.  The other player scoring in double figures was Antron Williams with 10.  Other Bulldog scorers were Marcus Brewer, and Shaylon Newton with 3 each and Stanley Sibley and Trey Smith contributing 2 each.

West Monroe scored first and kept widening the margin throughout.  The Bulldogs fought and fought but could not catch up.  Late in the game Shaylon Newton came off the bench and scored a beautiful arching 3-pointer at the final buzzer from the deep right side of the court.  The final margin was 25 points.

The Boys and Girls basketball teams travel to Ruston tonight to take on Lincoln Prep.  Varsity girls at 6:00 pm and Varsity boys 7:30pm.  The game will be played at New Living Word School gym.    They are only allotting 20 tickets for Red River that will be sold at the gate.

If you cannot go, Journal Sports will be on the air about 5:50 with the broadcast of both games.
