Graveside services celebrating the life of Glenn Curtiss McElwee, 93, of Coushatta, LA will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Bethany Cemetery in Coushatta with Bro. Olan McLaren officiating. The family requests everyone wear mask and social distance. Services under the direction of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home, Coushatta, LA.
Mr. Glenn was born to Robert and Carmen Nelson McElwee on September 26, 1927 in Coushatta, LA and passed away in his home on December 21, 2020. Glenn was strong in his faith and was baptized at an early age. He was a member of Davis Springs Southern Methodist Church in Fairview Alpha, LA. He was a veteran serving 4 years in the U.S. Navy. He loved music and singing in church. Reading was his favorite pastime in his later years. His favorite book was his Bible. He was a carpenter until he was in his 80’s. He was truly a family man. He loved taking care of his family and praying for them daily.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Maxie McElwee, Jackie McElwee, Bobby McElwee, and Billy McElwee.
Mr. Glenn is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lurlene Blanchard McElwee; one son, Robert Glenn McElwee (Carlene) and daughter, Rhonda Gale Shaver (Loran); grandchildren, Rob McElwee, Autumn Shaver Greer and John Loran Shaver; great-grandchildren, Ali Greer and Grayson Greer; one sister, Patsy Wren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bro. Olan McLaren, Andrew Giddings, and Dennis Gay.
