Riverdale Rebel Basketball Action

The Riverdale Rebels and Lady Rebels were back in action the week of December 7-11th.  On Monday, December 7, the Lady Rebels traveled to Claiborne Academy and took a 44-43 overtime win on the road.  Kenley Loftin led all scorers with 16 points.  She also had 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.  Sophomore Jessie Kate Cobb had a great game with a double-double, including 10 points and 13 rebounds.  She also added an assist and 3 steals.  Ronda Black had 6 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.  Before she went out with an elbow injury, Pacey Lindsey had 5 points, 1 rebound, and an outstanding 6 steals.  Rylee Kate Woodard, who also went out with a wrist injury, added 4 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Renee Prosperie had 3 points and 4 rebounds.

On Tuesday, December 8, the Glenbrook Apaches came to Riverdale.  The Lady Rebels, who were missing Pacey Lindsey and Mary Claire Jones, who are both out with injuries, lost their first game of the season by a score of 51-50.  Ronda Black led the team in scoring with 19 points.  She added 6 rebounds and 3 assists.  Kenley Loftin added another double-double for this season with 10 points and 15 rebounds.  She added 3 steals.  Jessie Kate Cobb added 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals.  Rylee Kate Woodard, playing through a wrist injury, had 7 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.  Renee Prosperie added 4 points and 8 rebounds.  The Rebels took a win over Glenbrook boys, 52-38.  Parker Almond had an outstanding night with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.  Caden Long had 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals.  Ty Jones chipped in 7 points, had 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.  Paul Messenger had 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.  Reagan Huddleston had 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals.  Denver Williams had 3 points and was high rebounder with 9 boards.

On Friday, December 11, the Rebels and Lady Rebels traveled to the PVA Tournament, where both teams played Franklin Academy.  The girls defeated the Franklin Cougars by a score of 41-33.  Ronda Black had 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.  Rylee Kate Woodard also had 11 points, along with 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.  Kenley Loftin added 8 points and was high rebounder with an outstanding 15 boards.  She added 2 assists and 3 steals.  Renee Prosperie chipped in 6 points, had 8 rebounds, and added 1 steal.  Jessie Kate Cobb added 5 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals.  The boys’ stats were not available at press time, but they also defeated the Franklin Cougars with a score of 50-39.

The Rebels enter the week with a 4-0 record.  The girls enter the week with a record of 9-1.

Editor’s Note:  Riverdale’s games against Tensas were cancelled by Tensas.  Their next scheduled game will be on Saturday January 2nd at home against Riverfield.
