Merry Christmas Y’all! November 24th, I had the honor of helping the 4-H cloverbuds in the Christmas Workshop. We played games and made Christmas decorations.
First, we made a snowman ornament out of a battery powered candle, red pipe cleaner, and black construction paper. Next, we made a Christmas tree out of a cinnamon stick and fabric that we tied on to the cinnamon stick and topped it off with a button for a tree topper. Next, we made snowflake ornaments out of colored popsicle sticks, glitter and bells. Lastly, we got clay pots and painted snowmen faces on them.
While we were doing all of this, we made Christmas cards to help spread Christmas joy and give some hope to the residents of the nursing home during these difficult and uncertain times.
Thank you to everyone who bought pecans and sweet potatoes! We appreciate all of y’all’s support.
December is here and that means new events to save! They will be listed below. The Red River Parish 4-H Virtual Christmas Creation Contest is coming up! The categories for judging are grades 4-6 Cookies, 4-6 Gingerbread House, 7-12 Cookies, and 7-12 Gingerbread Houses. To enter, email at least 1 picture of you baking/creating, 1 picture of the finished product, and a copy of the recipe to email@example.com. Pictures and recipes can also be put in the lockbox at the 4-H office or posted on the Red River Parish Facebook page. Be sure to include your name! The winners will be announced December 11th.
Junior Leaders have a meeting on the 10th and afterwards we will be walking down to watch the fireworks. For this meeting, be sure to wear an ugly Christmas sweater! There will be a prize for the ugliest so be sure to bring your A-Game. Thank you for all of y’all’s love and support. Merry Christmas!
