
The investigation by the Red River Sheriff’s Department is continuing into the shooting death of a Coushatta teenager Wednesday evening. Red River High is in mourning over the loss of the young man.
Red River High Principal J.C. Dickey issued a statement, “I am completely heart broken and still in shock over the loss of Kier Jackson. Everyone here at RRHS is grieving and mourning over one of our beloved seniors. Jackson was set to graduate at the end of the current school year.
Chief Deputy Greg Moore told The Journal, “At 6:40 pm a 9-1-1 call was received about shots fired on US 71 south of Coushatta. The person was taken by private vehicle to Christus Coushatta. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.”
Moore added, “The victim is a juvenile and due to the ongoing investigation, so I can only give out limited information.” Moore did say that as of Thursday afternoon no one had been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Moore said he could not give the name of the victim because he is a juvenile. Her also said he couldn’t comment on whether the incident was an accident or not.
